Do you use checklists when you’re teaching your IELTS students writing?
Great!
Your next step could be to consider getting your learners to compile their PERSONAL proofreading checklists (…for each genre).
Other than checking for generic writing errors in a genre (e.g. essay, report, letter), learners can also be trained to systematically review their work looking for their own recurring mistakes with it as well.
This can especially be useful because issues might vary a lot from learner to learner depending on such factors as L1, for example.
