Students might struggle to recognize the AUTHOR’S PURPOSE in an IELTS reading text.

This issue can cause difficulty when dealing with MATCHING HEADING QUESTIONS, because understanding the communicative aim of a paragraph, AS WELL AS the headings is necessary to correctly match them to one another.

Some communicative purposes can be, for example to persuade, inform, entertain, warn, explain, or clarify.
